Consistency rule calculator:is your best day too big?

Enter your daily results and this shows your best day as a share of total profit, whether it clears the rule, and how much more profit you need if it does not. It defaults to GFN's 2 Step rule of 35%. Instant and 1 Step have no consistency rule.

One trading day per line, or separated by commas. Losing days as negatives. 6 days read.

GFN's 2 Step uses 35%. Instant and 1 Step have no consistency rule.

Phase 1 target $8,000. See every $100,000 2 Step objective.
Best day $4,500 is 56.3% of $8,000 total profit. Above the 35% limit - $4,857 more profit needed on other days.

How it works

The formula behindthe numbers.

A consistency rule compares your best day with your total profit. Everything the calculator shows follows from that one ratio.

Best-day share = best day ÷ total profit. It clears when that is at or below the limit. Total profit needed = best day ÷ limit, and the largest day allowed at your current total is total profit × limit.

Worked example. On a $100,000 2 Step the Phase 1 target is $8,000. Day 1 makes $4,500 and five more days bring the total to $8,000 - target met. But $4,500 ÷ $8,000 = 56.25%, above the 35% limit. The best day needs a total of $4,500 ÷ 0.35 = $12,857, so $4,857 more profit on days smaller than day 1 clears it.

Total profit here is the net of every day, losing days included - the stricter reading, since a red day lowers the total and raises the best day's share. "Still to make" assumes the extra profit comes on days smaller than your best; a bigger day becomes the new best day. Your dashboard's calculation is the official one. All figures are virtual profit on a simulated account.

Common questions

Consistency rules,answered.

A limit on how much of your total profit can come from one day. With a 35% rule, no single trading day may account for more than 35% of total profit.

Only the 2 Step, at 35%. Instant and 1 Step have no consistency rule at any stage.

The same idea at a different limit: your best day may be at most 40% of total profit, so total profit must be at least your best day ÷ 0.40. Set the limit field to 40 to check it.

By adding profit on other days. The ratio is best day ÷ total profit, so it falls as the total rises. Closing a losing trade does not help, and a losing day makes it worse.
